NET-2014-08-1 - Proceedings of the Seminars "Future Internet" (FI) and "Innovative Internet Technologies and Mobile Communications" (IITM), Summer Semester 2014

We are pleased to present you the interesting program of our main seminars on “Future Internet” (FI) and “Innovative Internet Technologies and Mobil Communication” (IITM) which took place in the summer semester 2014.  In both seminar courses the authors were free to write their paper and give their talk in English or German. Starting with the IITM seminar we have decided to honor the best paper with an award.  The first Best Paper Award was given to Mr Tobias Klenze for his paper on “Designing privacy preserving systems”.  He gave an insight into the challenges and design of privacy preserving systems and expanded on existing approaches with his own ideas. Some of the talks were recorded and published on the media portal http://media.net.in.tum.de. In the seminar FI we dealt with issues and innovations in network research.  The following topics were covered:

• Bootstrapping Peer-to-Peer VPN

• Survey of botnet detection methods 
• Botnet detection with DNS
• GPU based network packet processing
• Survey of high speed packet processing techniques in PC-systems
• High reliability and when things go wrong
• Privacy of mobile phones in the crowd
• Security in smart buildings
